Top 12 open source project management web-based tools

Project management is the discipline of planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources to achieve specific goals. A project is a temporary endeavor with a defined beginning and end (usually time-constrained, and often constrained by funding or deliverables), undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives, typically to bring about beneficial change or added value. The temporary nature of projects stands in contrast with business as usual (or operations), which are repetitive, permanent, or semi-permanent functional activities to produce products or services. In practice, the management of these two systems is often quite different, and as such requires the development of distinct technical skills and management strategies.1

I would like to suggest one more software in addition to this list i.e proofhub (www.proofhub.com) though it is not a open source project management software but my opinion is that it is the fastest and easiest project management software I have ever used. I love this software.

    • Aaron Butler

I recommend you to enlarge the list by fitting proofhub.com in it because it has all the desired features and also costs less.

According to me, Cloud-based applications are far more better than open-source tools. A lot of software is moving to the cloud these days and there are some good reasons for it. All of your information is in once place, you can access it from anywhere if you have an internet connection.

I’ve tried Harvest at some point but decided against it because it is too expensive for me. Then, I’ve started using trial verison of Replicon ( http://www.replicon.com/olp/online-time-recording-software.aspx ) and so far I liked it. It gives us enough time to evaluate the product and to see whether we can make it work for me. If it does good, I’m sure to sign in for the premium plan immediately
